First Baptist South Hill is a service-centered congregation of believers seeking to better the communities in which they live. We do this through a multitude of church ministries, including:
  • Athletic Ministry consists of different sporting activities sponsored by the church (ex. basketball, softball)
  • Bible Study is to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the written Word of God, to enhance growth in your personal relationship with God, in your ministry and in your relationship with others.
  • Couples Ministry is to assist married and engaged couples in successfully building a respectful and loving relationship with one another based upon biblical principles.
  • Deaf Ministry provides signing to the hearing impaired during church services and meetings.
  • Drama Ministry enhances spiritual understanding of the written Word through acting, poem and poetry based upon biblical context.
  • English Tutoring teaches English as a second language to the Hispanic community.
  • Family Ministry assists the pastor by providing family-oriented seminars throughout the year. This ministry sponsors programs which are incorporated into the regular church service (ex. Friends and Family). Assist the pastor in whatever task he gives them to do.
  • Health Ministry offers health-related assistance and limited medical support at regular church services and funerals. It provides health information on a regular basis and sponsors an annual health fair to promote healthy living among our church family.
  • Hospitality Ministry consists of members who greet everyone with a smile on Sunday mornings and offer assistance to guests. They give the welcome at the regular worship services.
  • Intercessory Prayer is a ministry which consists of members who are called by God to intercede in prayer for others. This ministry prays for the Church, family, pastor, ministries and individual needs of others.
  • Kids for Christ (KFC - Children's Church) - Special church services are held for children during regular 11 am church services. A loving atmosphere is provided by KFC staff to enhance spiritual growth in a fun and positive environment.
  • Kitchen Ministry provides scrumptious delectable delights for meetings and church services. They are always seeking experienced certified chefs, bakers, and cooks to join their bright and cheerful staff.
  • Male Chorus is always looking for men and teenage boys who have singing talent and are willing to commit to a ministry that is always busy signing to glorify God.
  • Mass Choir is looking for a few good men and women who are energetic, gifted, and talented. They serve on Sundays and fulfill many engagements throughout the week. View video of mass choir.
  • Media Ministry is recruiting individuals to serve as sound technicians and individuals to assist with duplication and distribution of CD's, DVD's, tapes, etc. Training will be provided.
  • Men in Christ - A men's ministry which assists the elderly and the needy in yard work, etc.
  • Men's Fellowship is inclusive of all males in the church. They ministry is called "The King's Men." It sponsors Men's Day, and addresses men's issues and set positive examples for young men and boys in the church.
  • Missionary Ministry assists with needs for people locally and in foreign lands. It prepares the repasts at funerals, visit the sick and shut-in, visit nursing homes, intercede in prayer for others, and provide food and clothing to local shelters.
  • Pastor's Aide is a ministry which, based upon biblical scripture, looks after the interest of the pastor and his family.
  • Parenting Our Gifts (POG) teaches Christian parents to raise their children in a Christian atmosphere. The scripture teaches us to train up a child in the way in which he/ she should go.
  • Praise Dancers (Everlasting Praise) express spiritualism through song and dance. View video of Everlasting Praise dancers .
  • Praise and Worship Ministry leads the congregation in praise and worship through song, prayer, and praise at the beginning of each service. View video of the Praise and Worship ministry .
  • Rites of Passage is a mentoring program for boys and girls. It teaches youth what it means to be African-American men and women - spiritually, culturally, and physically.
  • Scouts for Boys and Girls are looking for counselors to lead and children to mentor.
  • Security Ministry is looking for dedicated saints, male and female, to assist in securing God's house. We firmly believe in prayer, praise, unity, and fun while serving God with a smile.
  • Seniors Ministry (Golden Vessels) provides a loving Christian environment which enhances the quality of life for our seniors through individual and corporate growth.
  • Singles Ministry ensures Single Christians spiritual needs are met through church activities.
  • Sunday School - If you know your bible, the Sunday school needs you. If you do not know your bible, you need the Sunday school.
  • Ushers - The church needs ushers. There are 5 usher boards: First Sunday, Children (Second Sunday), Third Sunday, Men (Fourth Sunday), and Teen Ushers (Fifth Sunday). If you have a gift of caring for others and you love to work with people, the usher ministry needs you.
  • Women's Fellowship - All females in the church belong to the Women's Fellowship. The Women's Fellowship sponsor women's conferences, women's month and many activities throughout the year. It enhances the spiritual growth of women by dealing with many issues unique to women.
  • Youth Choir consists of young people ages 6 to 17 years of age. They sing on fourth Sunday and they minister outside of the church as nursing homes, etc.
  • Youth Department (Teens Who Love Christ) is a ministry for teens ages 13 to 18. They do fun activities together such as visit amusement parks, participate in youth conferences, adopt a highway program, assist at homeless shelters, minister at nursing homes, attend Christian camp, participate in designated church services and sponsor many activities in the church for teens. Youth ministry is looking for youth participants and adult counselors.
